Add words to your Dictionary
Open Settings then Dictation and scroll to the Dictionary. Add a “Replacement” when SwitchDesk keeps writing a name wrong (“fern hill” → Fernhill). Add a “Commonly used word” so it hears a new name in the first place (Lumora).
Open the Dictionary
In SwitchDesk, open Settings then Dictation and scroll down to the Dictionary card. It has two lists: “Replacements” and “Commonly used words”.
Add a replacement
Type what dictation writes now
For example “fern hill”, the way the company name comes out.
Type what it should be, and press +
For example “Fernhill”. From now on, every dictation swaps one for the other, even with “AI Polish” off.

Replacements
Swap a source phrase for an exact replacement. Case-insensitive, word-boundary-aware.
No replacements yet.
- fern hillFernhill
Commonly used words
Tell the engine about words you use often (names, jargon).
No words yet.
- Lumora
- “fern hill” → Fernhill
- “Lumora” is a hint, not a replacement: it helps the engine hear the name, so nothing here changes.
Illustration.
Add a commonly used word
Type the word as it should be spelled, like “Lumora”, and press +. It helps dictation hear the name; it doesn’t rewrite anything you say. If a word still comes out wrong, add a replacement for the way it’s heard.
