SwitchDesk’s dictation pill, listening while the key is held.

Voice commands

Start with “remind me to” and it lands on your list.

Hold Globe and say “remind me to send Joe the revised proposal”. The pill shows “Todo Added”, and the to-do lands under Fernhill, with its time estimate.

It’s filed, not typed: nothing is pasted into the app you were in. Voice doesn’t set due dates, so say the day and it stays in the title.

SwitchDesk’s dictation pill: “Todo Added”, with buttons to add it to Today’s Todo or This Week’s Todo.

Sam’s list: “Send Joe the revised proposal” has landed under Fernhill.

AI Polish

“AI Polish” cuts the ums and take-backs, and formats the numbers.

Three lines, one fix each: a take-back, a spoken version number and slang. Pick one and watch it typed into the message.

If a cleanup doesn’t read as a tidy copy of what you said, SwitchDesk pastes your words as they were. Turn “AI Polish” off for the raw transcript.

Microphones

When a mic goes quiet, dictation finds one that works.

Three things dictation does when your mic or connection lets you down.

  • A slow USB mic gets a second try. Some USB mics take a moment to wake, so dictation tries the same mic again before it moves on.

  • Lid closed, still heard. With the lid closed the built-in mic hears nothing, so dictation switches to a mic that’s picking up sound.

  • Wi-Fi blinks, it retries once. If the connection drops as you start talking, it opens a fresh one and tries again.

Input device

Which microphone dictation listens to. Set a fallback for when your preferred mic isn’t connected.

Microphone
Fallback

Right now, dictation will listen on USB Microphone.

If the primary mic isn't available, the fallback is used. "System default" follows whatever you have selected in System Settings → Sound → Input.

Before you switch from Wispr Flow

More in Help →
Is there a free plan?
No. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial of Pro. Wispr Flow has a free plan with a weekly word limit.
Will “AI Polish” change what I said?
No. It removes fillers, repeats and take-backs and formats numbers; words that carry meaning stay. If a cleanup doesn’t read as a tidy copy of what you said, your words are pasted as they were. Turn “AI Polish” off for the raw transcript.
Does it type into any app?
Yes, anywhere you can type. Hold Globe, talk, let go, and the text appears where your cursor is. SwitchDesk asks for the Accessibility permission the first time.
Which languages does it understand?
English only, and it needs a connection. Apple’s speech engine takes over only if Siri & Dictation is on and an offline dictation language is installed.
Can I bring my Wispr Flow dictionary?
Not automatically. There’s no importer, so add your names and terms in Settings → Dictation.
Does it take meeting notes too?
Yes. Meeting Notes records your mic and the call’s audio as two tracks on your Mac, with no bot, and suggests to-dos when the call ends. Wispr Flow’s Notetaker also records without a bot.
Is there a Windows or iPhone app?
Not today. SwitchDesk runs on your Mac (macOS 14.6 or later); the iPhone app is coming soon to the App Store.
