Little things
Try a theme on this section
Click the SwitchDesk icon in the menu bar for two big tiles, “Record Meeting” and “Create Video”.
Your recent dictations sit right under them.
Pasted into the wrong window? Click it under “Recent Dictations” in the SwitchDesk menu to copy it again.
Add a to-do without opening SwitchDesk. Say one of these:
“Hey Siri, talk to SwitchDesk”“Hey Siri, add to Fernhill in SwitchDesk”“Hey Siri, new todo in SwitchDesk”Name a category and the to-do goes straight there. For a shorter phrase, build your own in the Shortcuts app.
The dictation, timer and meeting pills stay on screen when you switch desktops or go full screen.
Plug in another monitor and they move to the bottom of the screen you’re on.
“Hide Dock icon” runs SwitchDesk from the menu bar only.
Reach it from the menu-bar icon or your hotkeys.
Beige, Apricot, White / Grey, Charcoal, Midnight and Midnight Blue for your list and windows.
Pick one for light and one for dark, or let it follow your Mac’s light and dark mode.
“Header logo” puts your own name or logo at the top of your list.
Choose “Text” and type it in the font you like, or “Image” and pick a file.

Type your email and press “Send magic link”. Open the email and you’re in.
There’s no password.
If your mic goes silent mid-dictation, SwitchDesk tries it again.
If it stays silent, it moves to another mic that’s working.
With the lid closed, macOS mutes the built-in mic.
SwitchDesk listens on the external mic you’re using instead.
Dictation is English only and needs a connection.
Apple’s speech engine takes over only if Siri & Dictation is on and an offline dictation language is installed.
