Fix Create Video problems
If the picker says “Couldn't list screens”, allow SwitchDesk in System Settings then Privacy & Security then Screen & System Audio Recording and reopen it. In Window mode, the camera bubble only records for a window on the desktop you’re on, so switch to that window’s desktop first.
“Couldn’t list screens”
macOS hasn’t given SwitchDesk permission to see your screen yet, or it was switched off.
Open System Settings → Privacy & Security
Choose “Screen & System Audio Recording”.
Switch SwitchDesk on
If it isn’t in the list, add it with the + button from your Applications folder. macOS may ask you to quit and reopen SwitchDesk.
Open Create Video again
Menu bar → “Create Video”. The previews load in place of the message (“Finding screens and windows…” shows while they do).
Screen & System Audio Recording
Why we askLets SwitchDesk record the screen, window or area you pick in Create Video.
Create Video — asked the first time you record your screen.
A window on another desktop
Window mode lists windows on every desktop, and you can record any of them. The camera is the exception, because the bubble is drawn on the screen you’re looking at:
Switch to the window’s desktop (Mission Control, or swipe with three fingers), open Create Video from the menu bar again and pick the window. The message goes away and the bubble records.
The camera bubble is missing
A missing camera never blocks a recording. The picker warns you first:
No windows to record
Open the app, then pick Window again in the picker. Or use Screen or Area instead. Create a video and share the link →
