How to give ChatGPT access to your calls

ChatGPT can’t hear your calls. SwitchDesk can. It records them on your Mac with no bot in the meeting and writes the notes when the call ends. Share those notes, and ChatGPT can search every call, pull the action items and draft the follow-up in the same chat.

Draft a follow-up to Joe from yesterday’s Lumora call.

Hi Joe, thanks for the time yesterday. As promised, the revised proposal for the 12-seat pilot is attached…

Why give ChatGPT your calls

ChatGPT is where you already write. With your calls in reach, the follow-up email, the proposal outline and the answer to “what did they say about price?” come from what was actually said, not from memory. One sign-in also covers Codex and OpenAI dots.

What to ask ChatGPT

  • “Draft a follow-up email to Joe from yesterday’s Lumora call.”

ReadsReads that call’s summary and action items, then writes the email in the chat.

  • “What did Lumora say about pricing across all our calls?”

ReadsSearches every call you share and answers with the calls it used.

  • “List every action item I took on this week, and which call it came from.”

ReadsReads this week’s calls and lists them by call.

  • “Turn the Lumora kickoff into a one-page project brief.”

ReadsWorks from the summary and your notes, and from the transcript if you allow it.

  • “Add the follow-ups from that call to my SwitchDesk list.”

ChangesAdds them to your to-do list. With the Assistant preset they land in Incoming, above Today.

Set it up

  1. SwitchDesk on your Mac

    Record a call

Install SwitchDesk and record your next call: click Record Meeting in the menu bar, or Record on the countdown pill when the call starts. When it ends, the notes are ready: a summary, action items and the transcript.

  2. SwitchDesk and ChatGPT

    Connect ChatGPT

On your Mac, open Settings → AI Access → Connect an AI → ChatGPT and pick how much it may do. In ChatGPT, open Plugins → + → Add custom MCP server, paste https://mcp.switchdesk.org/mcp and click Create. Sign in with your SwitchDesk email. Full ChatGPT setup.

  3. SwitchDesk on your Mac

Switch on “Share meetings & notes with your AIs”

It’s in Settings → AI Access. Enter the code we email you on “Confirm it’s you”. When SwitchDesk offers to include the past calls on this Mac, say yes to give ChatGPT your history.

  4. ChatGPT

    Ask about a call

Start with something you can check, like “Draft a follow-up email to Joe from yesterday’s Lumora call.”

Want exact words? Tick “Include full transcripts” in the same place. SwitchDesk warns: “Other people’s exact words.” Then give ChatGPT Full control, or switch Transcripts on in Fine-tune. Summaries, action items and your own notes don’t need it.

Which calls work

Any call whose audio plays through your Mac: Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, in the browser or the app. SwitchDesk records your voice and theirs on separate tracks, so there’s no bot in the participant list. On Google Meet in Chrome, it also names who said what. How SwitchDesk records calls.

ChatGPT and your calls: questions

How AI Access works →
Can ChatGPT take meeting notes for me?
Not by itself. ChatGPT can’t join a call or hear its audio. SwitchDesk records the call on your Mac and writes the notes, and ChatGPT reads them through the SwitchDesk plugin.
Do Codex and OpenAI dots see my calls too?
Yes. One SwitchDesk sign-in covers ChatGPT, Codex and dots, with the same access. To keep transcripts away from all three, leave Transcripts off for that connection.
Can ChatGPT hear my calls?
No. ChatGPT never gets audio. It reads the notes SwitchDesk writes after each call: the summary, the action items and your own notes, plus full transcripts only if you allow them.
Does a bot join my call?
No. SwitchDesk records your mic and your Mac’s call audio on separate tracks, so nobody on the call sees a bot. It doesn’t announce itself, so tell people you’re recording; laws vary by place.
Which call apps does this work with?
Any call whose audio plays through your Mac, in a browser or in an app like Zoom or Microsoft Teams. It’s tested most with Google Meet in Chrome, where it also names who said what. Elsewhere, transcript lines read Me and Them.
Can I keep a call private?
Yes. Mark the call “Never share this call” and it’s never copied. Switching off “Share meetings & notes with your AIs” removes everything shared.
Can ChatGPT change or delete my meeting notes?
No. Meeting access is read-only. ChatGPT can add to-dos from a call if you allow it, but the call’s notes stay as SwitchDesk wrote them.
What does it cost?
AI Access is part of Pro: $18/mo billed yearly, or $23 month to month. The 14-day trial is Pro, so it includes AI Access. The trial includes 10 hours of meeting notes. See pricing.
