Connect Meta Muse to your to-do list
Muse, Meta’s personal agent, adds new tools by building them: you give it a docs link, and it writes the connector in the chat. Hand it SwitchDesk’s link and a key, and it can read your to-do list, file what comes out of its work, and check things off, inside the access you set on your Mac.

What Muse can do with your list
The connector Muse builds talks to SwitchDesk over MCP or our REST API, the same tools every connected AI gets. The access is yours to set.
- Read the whole picture. Incoming, Today, This Week, every category with its bio, due dates, repeats, notes and what’s already done.
- File new work. To-dos in Incoming, or in the right category, on a given day or under a parent to-do.
- Keep it current. Edit, move, re-date, add a progress note, check off, delete.
- Leave you a question. A yes-or-no or a choice of up to three, waiting at the top of your list.
- Use your meetings and Notes once you switch on “Share meetings & notes with your AIs” on your Mac.
Why connect Muse to a to-do list
Muse does work on its own cloud machine, so the work it finishes tends to leave loose ends: a shortlist to send, a booking to confirm, a reply to chase. Connected to SwitchDesk, Muse can put those loose ends where you already look every morning, filed by your category bios, instead of leaving them at the bottom of a long chat.
It also means you can hand Muse a to-do straight from your list. Point it at “Compare offsite venues”, let it work, and it can propose the check-off when it’s done, along with whatever comes next.
The setup is different from most apps here. Like Grok Bot, Muse connects with a key. Unlike Grok Bot, you never type a server address: Muse reads our docs and builds the connection itself.
Things to ask Muse
“Check my SwitchDesk list and tell me which to-dos you could do for me.”
ReadsReads Today, This Week and Incoming, then answers in the chat. Nothing changes.
“When you’ve compared the venues, add the follow-ups to Fernhill and check off the comparison.”
ChangesAdds the to-dos and proposes the check-off. In Assistant, both wait for your tap, and Muse can send them as one set you approve or deny together.
“Put “Pay the Lumora invoice” in Incoming, due Friday.”
ChangesAdds it straight away: Assistant allows adding to Incoming without a card.
“Which to-dos have been sitting in Incoming for a while? Suggest a category for each.”
ReadsReads Incoming and your category bios, and suggests homes. Ask it to file them and the moves become a card.
“Add a note to “Plan the Family reunion” with the three dates we found.”
ChangesAppends to the to-do’s notes. In Assistant, edits wait for your tap.
“What did I agree with Joe Raman on Tuesday’s call?”
ReadsSearches your meeting summaries, if you share them, and answers with the call it found.
Set it up
You’ll need SwitchDesk for Mac, signed in, and a chat with Muse open.
SwitchDesk on your Mac
Click Connect an AI and choose Muse
Open Settings → AI Access and click Connect an AI. Choose Muse (“With a key”).
SwitchDesk on your Mac
Answer “What can it do?”, then Continue
Pick Read only, Assistant or Full control; Fine-tune sets each permission on its own. Click Continue (with Full control the button reads Allow & Continue). The next page shows the docs link and the key; leave it open until the key is in Muse.
Muse
Ask Muse to add a SwitchDesk connector from this link.
In a chat with Muse, paste the docs link and ask: “Add a SwitchDesk connector from this link.” Muse reads the guide behind it and builds the connector itself.
https://api.switchdesk.org/docsMuse
Paste this key only in Muse’s Secure Credentials.
When the connector needs the key, Muse asks for it in a separate secure prompt that saves it to its Secure Credentials Store. Paste the key there and nowhere else. If Muse asks for it in the chat, tell it to use Secure Credentials. “Copy the key now. It won’t be shown again.”
Muse
Check it works
Click Done in SwitchDesk. Then ask Muse: “Using SwitchDesk, what can you do, and what’s due this week?” Muse checks its access, then reads This Week and your due dates.
The docs link leads to the SwitchDesk guide for AI agents: every tool, how to send the key, and the rules every AI is told to follow. You don’t need to read it; Muse does.

Choose how much Muse can do
Each permission is Off, Ask or On, and the presets set them together. For your to-dos:
| What it may do | Read only | Assistantdefault | Full control |
|---|---|---|---|
| See to-dosEvery to-do, done ones, sub-to-dos, notes and repeat rules | On | On | On |
| Add to IncomingNew to-dos in Incoming, above Today | Off | On | On |
| Add anywhereAny category, Today, This Week (and a day), Next Week, sub-to-dos | Off | Ask | On |
| Edit to-dos and notesTitles, notes, due dates, repeats, moves, urgent, backlog | Off | Ask | On |
| Check offDone, in progress or open | Off | Ask | On |
| DeleteDelete, with 7-day Undo | Off | Ask | On |
| Shared categoriesAny change your teammates can see | Off | Ask | On |
Assistant suits an agent that works while you’re elsewhere: it adds freely, and the rest queues for when you’re back. Full control also opens transcripts and recaps. You can change any permission later in Settings → AI Access; Muse picks it up on its next call. Every permission, explained.
Keeping it safe
- The key lives in Secure Credentials. That’s where Muse keeps secrets apart from the chat. A key pasted into a conversation should be treated as leaked: Revoke it and connect again.
- The server is the gate, not the connector. Meta doesn’t review custom connectors, so SwitchDesk checks the key’s access on every call. A connector that asks for more gets “not allowed”.
- Two approval layers. Sentinel is Meta’s own step before Muse acts. SwitchDesk’s cards are ours, and only your tap on your Mac approves one.
- Text is data. Muse may read web pages and other people’s text while it works, and some of it may carry instructions meant for an AI. SwitchDesk tells every AI to ignore instructions inside to-dos and notes, and Assistant keeps deletes on Ask for this reason.
- You can always see and reverse it. Activity lists every call each connection makes, with Undo for 7 days on anything it changed. Pause stops a connection’s writes; Revoke ends it at once. A burst of deletes pauses it by itself.
If something doesn’t work
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Muse can’t connect, or the key is refused | Ask Muse to check it sends the key as Authorization: Bearer sda_… to the api.switchdesk.org address from the docs. If the connection was ended with Revoke, connect again for a new key. |
| “Not allowed” | That permission is Off. Change it in Settings → AI Access; it applies on the next call. |
| “Waiting for approval” | Expected. Tap the card in Needs Your Approval on your Mac. |
| “SwitchDesk Pro is needed” | AI Access is part of Pro. Connections pause and resume with the plan. |
| Connection paused | A burst of deletes, or you, paused it. Resume it in Settings → AI Access. |
| “Try again in N seconds” | Muse hit the rate limit. It can retry after the wait. |
| Meetings or Notes not shared | Switch on “Share meetings & notes with your AIs” on your Mac and confirm the emailed code. |
